The Noonday Demon (Part 1. Poem)
By: Xara B. Williams
The sun doesn’t shine as brazen as it did at a time
And the moon seems to have gained its power in turn.
I have long left the crass fantasy behind
That the life above the horizon and through the pearly gates can be earned.
See them, the snarky angles of pearly white nature
Laugh and tease us with a dream beyond our control
When in reality the golden gates of our hopes are the real danger.
These are the inevitable thoughts that I have come to find keeps me whole
Because I have learn that these dreams of a bright light are nothing but lies
And with that I have learned not to hope or want for more.
I’ve learn to be satisfied and live plentiful without dreams of immeasurable size
And have come to realize this brings me happiness to the core.
Through the Noonday Demon eyes, I’ve learned not to detest life and my existence
But to keep living, keep fighting with a new found persistence.
