Being a writer whether professional, or not, takes a lot out of a person. But we still do it, because we love writing! It's our passion. A writer writers despite the hardships of writing, so here's a couple tips to survive.
1. Don't stress!-Writer's Block is just a test.
The most common stresses of being a writer, as we all now, is the big WB (Writer's Block.) There is no writer out there that has not suffered from the looming curse of WB as the extent of our writing is the extent of our imagination. But somethimes even your imagination, a process so innate and fun, can need a break! This only attests to your devotion to your art as well as your efforts. So, don't sweat it if every once in a while you get a bit of writer's block. How do I deal? I get off my laptop, and go enjoy a nice book, or a nice TV show. Every great creator gets their inspiration from other creators. Who knows? Maybe you'll find exactly what you're looking for while watching Flash, or Scandal, or Grey's Anatomy. Even sitting and reading another book that shares the same genre in which you are creating in can help you out. Writer's Block is a test, don't fail! Don't get fooled! The Greatest Writer's know when to stop writing.
2. Reception in Lew of Rejection
Another hardship of being a writer? Opening yourself up to the idea of rejection. As a writer, you must know that there will be trails and error. Hits and misses that will have some relishing in the hits, and others weighed down by the misses. It's hard to put yourself out there and leave your greatest works to the grips of critics, I know, but as a writer, you owe it to yourself to get better. To do better. It's the unofficial oath you take the minute your writing become something more than a quick session or journal entry. Even if you simply decide to publish your work on a entertainment platform without all the rules of having your books officially published, the minute you choose to put your works out there, you open yourself up to hate, criticism, and blowbacks. Something else? You open yourself up to praise, genuine readers, and the chance to impact your audience in a positive light- which is all us writers want to do. To create books just for you. Reception in Lew of Rejection simply means to heed your critics. Whether you agree or not, this is what your book is perceived as, and that means something. If your critics perceive your work incorrectly, then look for authorial choices that could've better gotten your point across. Should you have chosen to take this story from character one's point of view? Or character two? Was the scene really necessary to the story line or does it simply confused readers? In saying this too, do not let your negative critics significantly impact you to the point where you are left pondering your own talent. Accept the criticism, apply the criticism if need be, and move on. Do Better.
Self- doubt is the worst thing a writer can face. Because who would ever believe in you, if you don't even believe in yourself?
